As potentially hazardous, photovoltaic modules are subjected to stringent examinations. PV industry relies mainly on standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and Underwriters Laboratories (UL). For both institutions, the examination procedures might last even up to one year, so the customer is assured about the reliability of the products. The testing includes, among others: temperature cycling, outdoor exposure test, UV preconditioning, humidity freeze test, damp heat test, and hail test. The most common problems detected by testing bodies are micro-cracks, failure of connections (solder joints), current leakage or delamination. Due to its uniformity, Eterbright's CIGS is considered safe and reliable.

Restriction of Hazardous Substances

European Union, through its Directive 2002/95/EC restricts the use of specific hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products. Especially Cadmium (Cd), but also Lead and Arsenic are harmful to the environment and pollute landfills, or are dangerous in terms of occupational exposure during manufacturing and recycling. Eterbright's CIGS technology is Cadmium, Lead, and Arsenic-free which is RoHS compliant and certified.
